Make it unpredictable.
If you choose the password ‘Birmingham’ then knowing just a few letters somebody may be able to guess the rest. If you live in Birmingham and somebody finds out the first and fourth letter of your password, it could be very easy to guess your password!
Suggestion:
Use a sentence which is meaningful and easily remembered by you. For example use the first character of each word to create the password.
An example:
Sentence: ‘The owl and the pussy cat went to sea’ – becomes ‘toatpcwts’.
Using some upper case letters (case sensitivity is important as in the myTsafe ‘password’) and substituting a zero for the letter ‘o’ and a 1 for the letter ‘a’, it becomes ‘t01tPCwtS’ which is extremely unpredictable.
Hopefully you can remember this type of password - easier if you like Edward Lear!
Note: passwords should always be at least 8 characters long. myTsafe enforces that - it's all part of your security.

- The physical computer storage facility is located deep underground in an ex Ministry of Defence nuclear attack-proof bunker built to house computers.
- Electricity supplies are provided by two separate feeds from the National Grid - one dedicated purely to The Bunker and numerous back up generators and battery systems.
- There are various totally separate connections to the Internet.
2. Electronic/digital security
- State of the art digital security.
- Managed by people who are among the foremost computer security experts in the world.
- Managed by the creators of Apache-SSL – the web’s de-facto secure web server application and core team members of Open SSL – the world’s most widely used cryptographic library.
3. Human & Procedural Security
- All procedures and practices are of military standard or better.
- All employees undergo intensive security screening carried out by an approved specialist company.
- Nobody at The Bunker or within Ledma Ltd has access to any information stored by users at any time. The system has been strictly designed to prevent this to preserve clients confidentiality at all times.
Logging on Process
- Unique username.
- Two stage login so that passwords sent as two separate packages to prevent interception.
- For part of logging in process, keyboard blocked so that can only enter password characters by mouse or laptop finger pad. Prevents 'key stroke monitoring' by rogue software i.e somebody recording which keys you pressed.
- Fully encrypted system throughout.
Encryption
Encryption is a process which alters data to make it humanly unreadable. myTsafe uses the 'https' protocol for encryption and 128bit SSL encryption or higher. Encrypted pages display 'https' at the beginning of their address and a padlock symbol which you can click on for further details. To confirm our authenticity, myTsafe uses Verisign, the leading SSL authority. Encryption is used throughout:
- On registration & at login
- When adding and viewing documents i.e. when in transit to and from your account in myTsafe.
- For the sharing facility & the e-Postbox
- For storing all your data (AES 256 bit SSL)
Data disk security
For your total peace of mind, any hard disks on the myTsafe computers which have to be replaced are not only wiped clean but always physically pulverised at The Bunker. They are never sent for re-refurbishment or repair so nobody else could mistakenly receive a disk with your information still on it.
Access to your data.
Your information is accessible solely by you.
myTsafe has been built so that nobody at Ledma Ltd, the creator of myTsafe and the Omneport system behind it, can see into an individual account.
Auto Log Out
To protect you, myTsafe will automatically log you out of your account if there has been a period of inactivity. The default is 5 minutes - you can change it instantly at any time. At the top left of every screen you will see the countdown to automatic log-out.
Dedicated servers
The myTsafe servers are dedicated systems; they perform no other role and are not connected to any other applications. Only two secure ‘ports’ are open – one for users to use the system and one for software maintenance. All other ports are completely closed off.
